Weihnachtsmarkt Schloss Merode

I'm surprised that the parking situation (access) to the market is hardly mentioned in the comments. In short: it is an absolute disgrace, and irresponsible of the market organizers to even hold this market (especially after being voted one of the best Christmas markets in Germany) without thinking of a parking solution. There were many license plates from cities 50-100km away, many probably bought tickets online and then encountered this parking disaster, causing a lot of stress and anger. This truly should the experience. There are MANY examples for events that can be copied to cope with this: limit ticket sales in general, offer limited combination tickets for parking and entrance, *inform* visitors on the website, organize shuttle busses from surrounding communities... Being a private organizer is NOT an excuse for not taking care of this. Lack of doing so is more so a sign of greed for money with ignoranc to the visitors. In 2025 we arrived before dark and were *lucky* to find a parking spot in the big, very muddy adjacent field that has no lights after dark. Even though the market is really beautified indeed, the experience is lowered at the end when you have to find your car in the dark field, and then do an overhaul cleaning of shoes, strollers and car inside. In 2025 we didn't get that far: arriving just after dark the line alone to the parking lot was so long it would have taken at least 45 minutes to reach. We turned around to try around much in the village but to no avail. We left and my child was very upset not to see the Christkind this year.

Ein super toller Weihnachtsmarkt, toole Atmosphäre, gute Parkmöglichkeiten. Ich kann diesen Weihnachtsmarkt sehr empfehlen.
